How Can You Prepare for Your First TMS Therapy Session?

TMS therapy Philadelphia

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, also known as TMS, is a great alternative for those with depression who have not seen results from pills or therapy. It is a non-invasive, healthy treatment with a proven track record. If you’re interested in TMS, it’s natural to be nervous, but we want to help you prepare.

Before your first session, it’s an excellent idea to get friends or family involved. Having someone that you’re close to with you on your first visit may ease some tension. Ask someone to drive you to the office for your first visit. Having someone drive you means you do not need to worry about getting to and from your appointment.

Getting a ride may also prove to be beneficial for when it’s time to come home. While side effects from TMS are mild, some patients do experience headaches. These headaches are most common in the beginning. They tend to ease up as you continue your sessions. But having someone else in charge of driving for that first session will help if you experience a headache.

We have a few items that we suggest our patients bring with them to their sessions. It’s a good idea to have the following packed in your bag to make your first session as comfortable as possible:

  • Water
  • A list of current medications for your doctor
  • Headphones, tablet, book, or any other form of entertainment

We want to help you with your depression. Call us today for the best TMS therapy in Philadelphia
